P&O

The article I read puts a lot of emphasis on the research proposal. It says without a good research proposal your research paper really isn’t worth anything. The research proposal is intended to show others that the research you are doing is legitimate, and that you have a good idea of what you want to research. The proposal should say what you plan to accomplish with your paper, and how you are going to attack accomplishing those goals. It should give some kind of information to back up that you know what you’re talking about. Again the article states that however good your paper could be, without a good research proposal you stand the chance of your paper getting rejected

Research Proposal:

Title: Understanding Sexual Attraction: Are men in uniform more sexually attractive to women?

Abstract:

The bulk of my research was based on the research question of “Is it possible that a uniform can make a woman more sexually attracted to a male?”. I was motivated to choose this research due to my own accounts with women, and being  in the Army. Also when I finish with the Army I plan on pursuing a career in law enforcement which also will require me to wear a uniform. My first experience with this idea was when I got home from basic training, and during my walk through the airport in uniform it just seemed like women were staring at me which I enjoyed. I personally am a very sexual person, and enjoy knowing what women are attracted to. By combining something I will likely be doing for the rest of my life with something I am very interested in I think my research topic is a very valid choice for me.

My research will take information from scholarly articles, and use a combination of all the collected information to make a valid conclusion. I will research findings on what women are sexually attracted to, what women sexually fantasize about, how the media effects women’s portrayal of what they want, and what a uniform says about the man who wears it. After doing the research I will take the information I have gathered and correlate it all together to make a conclusion. My hypothesis is that women actually are more sexually attracted to a man in uniform compared to her sexual attraction of males who are not in uniform.

Introduction:

The purpose of my study is to evaluate females sexual attractions and stereotypes about a man in uniform. While there is quite a bit of information regarding woman and sex, I haven’t seen any scholarly research articles on my personal research question. I will relate what I have researched about what women want in a man to information about what a uniform portrays, and combine them to show that there is a correlation between the two. Also I will go in depth about which age groups of women are more likely to be sexually attracted to a man in uniform.

Methods:

I will primarily be using an auto-ethnography method. I chose this because I think this topic relates to me a great deal, and I feel like this method really lets the researcher get adament through sharing personal life stories. Although I will not be conducting any surveys or interviews formally, I have been talking to people randomly about my topic to get different view points on the topic. By talking to people about the topic I have gotten new ideas as to what ideas to explore with my research.

Results:

I anticipate my methods to result in a good understanding about why women are attracted to men in uniform. I don’t think that my results will ever be a complete fact, but with the scholarly research im doing to get the information I think it will be very hard to say that there is no correlation at all between the uniform and sexual attraction.

Discussion:

My research will be something that hasn’t been done scholarly, however I am definitely not the first person to notice this attraction to uniforms. I think my research will give people a good idea as to if this common myth is true or false.

    Incomplete:
*no evidence of reading the relevant literature; no sources listed.
*outline needs to reflect the actual genre in which you are writing; where is methods? analysis? discussion?
    *outline can be more thorough
    *where is the anno bib?
